Legislative Priorities

The backbone of the Chamber’s advocacy efforts. This committee helps steer policy, adopts the Chamber’s official advocacy platform, and puts on educational events that help keep our members informed about potential impacts to their businesses. This committee also makes determinations regarding what legislation to support and oppose, and partners with our community representatives in Sacramento to advance legislation that makes it easier to do business in Huntington Beach and the state of California.

The City of Huntington Beach operates under a City Council/City Manager form of government. The seven-member City Council serves as the City’s legislative body, establishing policies and priorities, adopting the annual budget and making decisions that guide municipal services for Huntington Beach residents, businesses and visitors.

Council Members are elected to four-year terms, with a limit of two consecutive terms. The position of Mayor rotates among the Council Members, with the Mayor presiding over City Council meetings and representing the City in the community and region.
